Welcome and thank you for attending the sixth annual “Evening with Friends” to benefit The Steve S. Kang Young Artists and Scholars Fund (the “Fund”). The Fund was founded six years ago to honor the memory of Steve Kang by encouraging and enabling talented young people in need of financial assistance to pursue their passions in the arts and sciences.
Thanks to your continued generosity, the Fund has made significant strides towards achieving this goal, increasing annual scholarship grants from $11,000 in the first year to $30,000 for the past three years. In 2003, we are pleased to inform you that the Fund raised over $ 37,000 through individual donations and matching corporate contributions.
As our efforts become more widely known, we are receiving an increasing number of applications each year from many exceptional students in serious need of financial assistance. You should all feel privileged to play a part in the successes of these promising young scholars through our collective efforts.
We are very proud that a small project born in the wake of personal tragedy has developed into a truly public endeavor to support the young talents in our community. We thank you for enhancing such growth through participation in the successful transition of the Fund from a small core group to the larger community. To facilitate such growth, the Fund intends to establish an Advisory Board, on which we hope that some of you will consider serving, either individually or as a couple.
Your support has been instrumental to the ongoing success of the Fund and development of the next generation of young stars. Please enjoy this evening as a small gesture of our appreciation for your many efforts on the Fund’s behalf.
